DMCC has introduced an important administrative update for its member companies regarding the company name suffix.
Effective 02 January 2025, all newly registered companies with DMCC will adopt the suffix “FZCO”. For branch establishments, the suffix will be “FZ Branch” instead of “DMCC”.
What This Means for New DMCC Companies
From 02 January 2025, newly incorporated DMCC companies will no longer use the “DMCC” suffix in the same way as before. Instead:
- New DMCC companies will use “FZCO”
- Branch establishments will use “FZ Branch”
This update is part of DMCC’s administrative alignment with other UAE-based free zones.
Key Details for Existing DMCC Member Companies
For companies already registered with DMCC before 02 January 2025, the suffix change will take place gradually over time.
During the transition period:
- Existing DMCC companies do not need to take immediate action.
- Companies using either “DMCC” or “FZCO” suffixes will be considered valid.
- Both suffixes will remain valid during the 18-month transition period.
- The suffix change can be made at no cost.
- DMCC will issue a Suffix Change Certificate for each member company.
What Existing DMCC Companies Should Expect
DMCC is expected to issue further process details for existing member companies in due course. Once the official procedure is announced, companies will receive more clarity on how the suffix change will be implemented.
At this stage, no immediate action is required from existing DMCC member companies until DMCC releases further instructions.
