VAT Return Filing Services in Dubai & the UAE

From your accounting records to a reviewed VAT return. SAIF Chartered Accountants helps businesses prepare their figures, resolve discrepancies and coordinate EmaraTax submission—with clear approval and payment responsibilities.

VAT filing deadline UAE

Check the period. Plan both filing and payment.

A VAT return reports the business’s VAT position for its assigned tax period. The FTA states that returns and related payments are generally due within 28 days of the period ending. Check the actual due date in your account. FTA filing and payment guidance.

Our preparation timetable works backwards from that date: records received, review questions answered, approval obtained and payment arranged. Agree these milestones before the final week rather than relying on a last-day reminder.

Outsourced VAT return support

Agree the work behind the numbers.

Preparation

Organise sales, purchases and relevant adjustments into a draft return working paper. Identify missing records and questions that need a decision.

Reconciliation

Compare the proposed return with VAT control accounts, transaction reports and available supporting records. Explain differences instead of carrying them forward without review.

Review and submission

Arrange management sign-off, coordinate authorised filing and retain the acknowledgement. Confirm who will settle the liability and check its allocation.

Need an opinion on a complex transaction rather than recurring filing? Our VAT consultancy service covers that separate advisory need. Bookkeeping reconstruction, refund claims and corrections are agreed as additional work where necessary.

Documents for VAT return filing

A practical checklist for your finance team.

Start with the reporting records

  • VAT registration details, assigned period and previous return.
  • Sales and purchase registers with invoices and credit notes.
  • Trial balance, VAT ledgers and bank reconciliations.
  • Customs declarations, import records and overseas supplier invoices.
  • Export evidence and support for unusual transactions.
  • Prior adjustments, payment confirmations and FTA correspondence.

Make the handover easier

Send an editable transaction export alongside supporting documents, rather than screenshots of totals. Identify the entity, period and currency clearly. Keep one agreed version and explain entries posted after the initial export.

Tell us about a new activity, branch, marketplace, overseas supplier or accounting-system change. These details help focus the review before the return is drafted.

Use agreed secure access arrangements. Do not send UAE PASS passwords or one-time codes.

How we work

One reporting cycle, four clear handovers.

  1. 01

    Collect

Confirm the assigned period, request records and agree a document cutoff with your team.

  2. 02

    Reconcile

Compare transaction schedules with the ledger and investigate missing or inconsistent entries.

  3. 03

    Review & approve

Explain the draft calculation, unresolved questions and payment position before authorised approval.

  4. 04

    File & retain

Submit under the agreed authority, retain the acknowledgement and confirm payment responsibilities.

What you receive

The agreed filing pack can include the return calculation, reconciliation, outstanding-item log, approval record and submission acknowledgement. We explain the payment position and retain a clear trail back to the supplied records.

What your team controls

Your business provides complete records, answers transaction questions, approves the return and arranges funds. Appoint one person to coordinate these tasks. Outsourcing preparation does not remove the business’s responsibility for its information.

Common VAT filing mistakes

Review the exceptions—not only the totals.

Sales and credit notes

Check completeness, cutoffs, duplicate entries and the evidence behind refunds or cancellations. Review VAT classifications rather than relying only on the total sales figure.

Input VAT and evidence

Flag incomplete invoices and purchases needing eligibility review. Separate business records from personal items, and document the treatment of restricted or mixed-use costs.

Imports and reverse charge

Compare customs and overseas supplier records with the accounting entries. Investigate differences and potential duplication before accepting an automated report.

Exports and free zones

Bring supporting documents and the actual supply arrangements. A foreign customer or free-zone address should trigger a treatment review, not an automatic tax-code assumption.

Old errors and adjustments

Record when an issue was found and which period it affects. Escalate correction questions instead of using the next return as a catch-all balancing entry.

Submission and settlement

Keep separate evidence for approval, filing and payment. A prepared draft or bank instruction alone does not establish that every step has completed.

These are review priorities, not a substitute for a transaction-specific tax assessment. For unresolved treatment questions, arrange specialist VAT advice before approving the return.

Your records, your systems

Support for mainland and free-zone businesses.

We scope filing support for SMEs, trading companies, professional services, e-commerce businesses and other registered entities across the UAE. The work follows your transactions and record quality, not a generic industry label.

Retail and marketplace businesses may need settlement reconciliations; importers need customs records; service businesses may need a closer review of overseas suppliers and project billing. Explain these features when requesting a proposal.

Zoho Books, Odoo, Xero and QuickBooks

We can work with accounting-system exports and supporting records. Agree how tax codes, credit notes and late postings are controlled. If the books are incomplete, connect filing with accounting and bookkeeping support rather than building a return from unsupported totals.

Keep e-invoicing readiness connected to invoice-data quality, without confusing it with the existing return preparation and approval process.

VAT filing cost in Dubai

A proposal based on your company—not a fixed plan.

Tell us the number of entities, reporting frequency, approximate transaction volume, software and current condition of the books. Cross-border transactions, historical issues and urgent deadlines can change the work required.

We distinguish routine filing from bookkeeping cleanup, refund assistance and specialist correction work. That makes the deliverables and responsibilities clear before the engagement starts.

Questions business owners ask

VAT return filing: practical answers

01Who can help me file my VAT return in Dubai?+

SAIF Chartered Accountants supports VAT return preparation, reconciliations and authorised submission. Send your reporting period, business activities and record status so we can agree the work and timetable.

02When is my UAE VAT return due?+

The general deadline is 28 days after the tax period ends. Check your assigned period and the actual due date in EmaraTax, including any applicable holiday adjustment. Arrange payment separately from filing.

03Is VAT filing monthly or quarterly?+

Use the period assigned to your business by the FTA. Do not assume your return follows calendar quarters or another company’s timetable. We check the period before requesting records.

04Do I need to file if there were no sales?+

No sales does not necessarily mean no reportable transactions: purchases, imports or adjustments may still matter. If there was genuinely no business activity, the FTA guide requires a nil return by the deadline.

05Can I file the return myself?+

Yes. A business can manage its own filing through the FTA system. Professional support is useful where records need reconciliation, transactions are unfamiliar or the finance team needs a review before submission.

06How much does VAT return filing cost in Dubai?+

SAIF quotes according to your company profile, transaction volume, record quality and scope. Monthly bookkeeping, overdue-period reconstruction and specialist advice are identified separately. We do not offer a fixed price that assumes every company is the same.

07Can you help if the deadline is tomorrow?+

Contact us immediately with the records and reporting period. We first assess whether a supported return can be completed in the available time. Urgent assistance is subject to capacity, usable records and timely approval; submission cannot be guaranteed.

08What if I have missed a VAT deadline?+

Confirm the outstanding periods and payment position promptly. We can scope a catch-up review, prepare supported returns and assess further actions. Penalties depend on the applicable rules and facts; we do not promise a waiver.

09Does submitting a return also pay the VAT?+

No. Treat submission and settlement as separate controls. Keep the submission acknowledgement and verify that any payment has been correctly allocated in your tax account.

10Can I claim all VAT shown on purchase invoices?+

Not automatically. Recovery depends on eligibility and evidence. We flag unsupported or potentially restricted items for review instead of treating every expense as a recoverable purchase.

11Can you work with Zoho Books, Odoo, Xero or QuickBooks?+

Yes, we can work with exports and records from these systems under the agreed engagement. Tax codes, completeness and reconciliations still need review; a software-generated report is not itself confirmation that the return is correct.

12Can you correct a VAT return already submitted?+

We can review the error, affected period and supporting evidence, then assess the appropriate correction route. Do not automatically put an old error into the next return. Specialist correction work is scoped separately.

13Do free-zone companies need VAT return support?+

A free-zone licence does not by itself remove filing obligations. We assess the registered entity and transactions, including designated-zone questions where relevant, rather than applying a blanket exemption.

14Will a VAT credit automatically reach my bank account?+

Do not assume it will. A credit position and a refund request are different matters. We can review the balance and separately scope refund support, subject to FTA requirements and assessment.

15Is e-invoicing a replacement for VAT return filing?+

Do not treat implementation of e-invoicing as cancellation of your VAT return obligations. Keep invoice-data controls and assigned filing obligations coordinated, and monitor official changes.
